Licensing
Glint offers two tiers: Free and Pro. The license badge in the header shows your current status.
Tiers
| Feature | Free | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Open repositories | Up to 5 | Unlimited |
| Private repositories | No | Yes |
| All tab types | Yes | Yes |
| All Git features | Yes | Yes |
| All GitHub features | Yes | Yes |
Billable Tabs
The Free tier allows up to 5 billable app tabs open at a time. Billable tabs are Folder and Worktree tabs — the tabs that represent repositories on your filesystem. Settings and other non-repo tabs don’t count toward the limit.
When the limit is reached, additional tabs show an upgrade overlay with blurred content. Private repositories also require Pro, regardless of the tab count.
Free Trial
Try Pro free for 14 days with no payment required.
- Click the Go Pro badge in the header
- Select the Trial tab
- Enter your email address
- Click Start Free Trial
The badge updates to show remaining trial days (e.g., “Trial: 7d”). When 3 days or fewer remain, the badge turns orange as a reminder.
The trial is limited to one per device. After the trial expires, Glint reverts to the Free tier.
Purchasing Pro
- Click the Go Pro badge in the header
- Select the Purchase tab
- Click Buy Now — this opens the Polar checkout in your browser
- Complete the purchase and receive your license key via email
Activating a License
- Click the Go Pro badge in the header
- Select the Activate License tab
- Paste your license key
- Click Activate
The badge changes to Pro (green) and all limits are removed.
Deactivating a License
- Click the Pro badge in the header
- Click Deactivate License
- Confirm the prompt
This releases your activation slot so you can transfer the license to another device. Glint reverts to the Free tier.
Offline Use
Glint validates your license periodically over the network. If you go offline:
- Pro license — continues working for 7 days after the last successful validation
- Trial — continues working for 48 hours after the last successful validation
When the grace period expires, Glint reverts to the Free tier. Your Pro access is automatically restored the next time you connect to the internet.
