Pane Management

Beyond the basics covered in Split Panes, Glint provides additional pane controls for managing your workspace.

Maximizing a Pane

Maximize a pane to temporarily fill the entire content area, hiding all other panes.

MethodAction
KeyboardCtrl+Alt+M
ButtonClick the maximize icon in the pane header
Double-clickDouble-click the pane header bar

When maximized, all other panes are hidden but retain their state. Use any of the same methods to restore the normal layout.

The maximize icon changes to a restore icon while a pane is maximized. Drag-to-rearrange is disabled in maximized state.

Maximized state is not persisted — panes always restore to their normal layout on restart.

Minimizing a Pane

Collapse a pane to its header bar only, giving more space to other panes.

MethodAction
KeyboardCtrl+Alt+Shift+M
ButtonClick the minimize icon in the pane header

The minimized pane shows a tab count badge. Click the restore icon or double-click the header to expand it again.

Splitting Panes

Create new panes by splitting the active one:

ShortcutAction
Ctrl+Alt+\Split right
Ctrl+Alt+/Split down

You can also drag any content tab to the edge of a pane to split in that direction. See Split Panes for details.

Closing a Pane

MethodAction
KeyboardCtrl+Alt+W
ButtonClick the X icon in the pane header

The last remaining pane cannot be closed.

Hiding Pane Headers

Toggle pane headers on and off with Ctrl+Alt+H, or right-click a pane header and select Hide Pane Headers. Use the same shortcut to show them again.
